Siskiyou Sansui Do
History

Ashland Zen Center, Siskiyou Sansui Do began in 1993, when a few people interested in Zen meditation started meeting in the home of two Zen priests. By the following year our group had grown, and was invited to practice at the larger Siskiyou Aikika Dojo in Ashland, and adopted the name Siskiyou Sansui Sangha. The Sangha was named after the environment in which we live and practice. "Siskiyou" is an Indian word for moving mountains; "Sansui" is Japanese for mountains and waters; and Sangha is a Buddhist community.

By the Spring of 1999 the Sangha's deepening committment led to a move to our own place of practice, our current location on 246 Fourth Street in Ashland. With this dedicated space we are able to expand our practice opportunities. Ashland Zen Meditation Center, Siskiyou Sansui Do now has a Zendo (meditation hall), full kitchen, and offers regular meditation retreats.
