Drop In Day

Drop-n Day Publc Awareness Checklst

  • Send public service announcements with explanatory cover letter and media fact sheet to local broadcast outlets 4-6 weeks prior to event.

  • Send news release plus media fact sheet 3-4 weeks prior to event.

  • Contact local media by phone 2-3 weeks prior to event. Talking points:

    -Invite media to visit your school on Drop-In Day

    -Offer to arrange interview with successful adult students

    -Offer teachers/administrators/students as talk show guests

    -Get on TV, radio, newspaper community calendars

  • Send final news release one week prior to event.

  • Remind key media the day before the event.

  • Other publicity

    -In-school signage, Drop-In Day posters on bulletins boards

    - Promote event with posters in local library and other agencies

    -Hang posters in local grocery stores

    -Get Drop-In Day on community reader board

    -Hang banner over school entrance on Drop-In Day

  • Get local businesses involved. In the past, some schools have had success in getting fast food restaurants and grocery stores to promote Drop-In Day on napkins, pizza boxes, grocery bags, etc.
