Drop In Day
PSA Cover Letter
If you distribute public service announcements,
be sure to include a cover letter such as this one to directors
of public affairs at radio, TV and cable stations.

DAY 2005
For the past 20 years California's adult schools
have conducted a dropout recovery program called DROP-IN
DAY FOR DROPOUTS. On Thursday, January 20, Generic Adult
School will again welcome adults who have not finished school. However,
we need your help. Without the support of the broadcast industry
most of those who have come back to successfully complete school
under this program would not have done so. Because dropouts are
often not readers of newspapers, the public service announcements
and news coverage given DROP-IN DAY
by radio and television stations are almost solely responsible for
this event's success.
Here's how DROP-IN
DAY works: On Thursday, January 20, adult schools all over
the state encourage adults who have not finished grade school or
high school to "drop in" for free counseling.
Each participant receives specific recommendations
and personalized information on how to earn a diploma. This personal
contact is important because many dropouts are not aware that previous
school work, job experience and certain other activities can count
as diploma credit.
Enclosed are two PSA's in support of DROP-IN DAY
FOR DROPOUTS. We hope you will use them in the two-week period preceding
the event. If you have questions please call us at 000-000-0000.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
